Composed of hand-woven African cotton, each strip was hand-painted with varying patterns and woven together to form the total image. These cotton strips were woven in Africa and commonly used to wrap the bodies of the recently deceased. The piece was made in the 1970's by Jacques Lamy when Mr. Lamy was teaching art in Senegal, Africa.
